Promote Healthy Body Weight

Reduces Both Body Weight and Body Mass Index 3-Times Greater than Diet and Exercise Alone*

Super CitriMax® Shown Clinically Effective in Weight Management

Super CitriMax®, a highly bioavailable form of (-)-hydroxycitric acid (HCA), has been shown to reduce appetite, inhibit fat production and decrease body weight.

The current study evaluated the effects of Super CitriMax® alone and in combination with ChromeMate® niacin-bound chromium plus Gymnema sylvestre extract (patent-pending), as part of a weight loss program of supervised exercise and calorie restriction.

Three groups of obese subjects were randomly assigned to receive 4,667 mg of Super CitriMax® (2,800 mg HCA) daily, or the Super CitriMax® combined with 400 mcg chromium plus 400 mg gymnema extract, or placebo.

After 8 weeks, the Super CitriMax® group resulted in a 6.3% decrease in body weight and Body Mass Index (BMI, an indicator of healthy body weight). Levels of serum serotonin, a mechanism of appetite control and eating behavior, increased 40%, while food intake decreased by 4%. The Super CitriMax® group also showed 6.3%, 12.3% and 8.6% reductions in total cholesterol, LDL and triglyceride levels, respectively, while beneficial HDL cholesterol increased 10.7%. Excretion of urinary fat metabolites, and indicator of "fat burning," significantly increased, as well.

The combination group resulted in even greater improvements in all parameters tested. In contrast, no significant changes in weight loss, BMI, food intake, blood lipids or fat metabolites were observed in the placebo group at the end of 8 weeks, while small increases in serotonin levels occurred.

These results suggest that Super CitriMax® alone, and to a greater degree the combination of Super CitriMax® plus ChromeMate® and Gymnema, are safe and effective dietary ingredients for promoting weight control and healthy blood lipid levels.

Super CitriMax® Shown Clinically to Promote Weight Loss & Healthy Blood Lipids

Super CitriMax®, a highly bioavailability source of (–)-hydroxycitric acid (HCA), is reported to decrease body weight and has demonstrated safety in standard toxicity tests.

The present study assessed the effects of Super CitriMax® on weight change and other variables in 60 moderately obese individuals.

The subjects were randomly assigned to receive 4,667 mg of Super CitriMax® (2,800 mg HCA) daily, or the Super CitriMax®Max® combined with 400 mcg chromium (ChromeMate®) plus 400 mg of Gymnema sylvestre extract (patent-pending), or placebo.

All three groups received a 2,000 Kcal diet and participated in supervised exercise. After 8 weeks, both body weight and body mass index (BMI, an indicator of healthy body weight) decreased by 5% in the Super CitriMax® group.

A 15.9% reduction in appetite (as measured by unconsumed food) was also observed, while urinary fat metabolites (a marker of fat breakdown) rose significantly.

The Super CitriMax® group showed significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides of 7.2%, 13.2% and 5.9%, respectively.

Additionally, levels of beneficial HDL increased by 8%.

The combination group experienced even greater results in all parameters tested, while only marginal or non-significant effects were observed in all parameters for the placebo group.

These results show that Super CitriMax® alone, and to a greater degree when combined with ChromeMate® and gymnema, is a safe and effective dietary ingredient for promoting weight control and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels.

CitriMax® Shown to Promote Weight Loss in Humans

In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, scientists at the University of Mexico found that (–)hydroxycitric acid (HCA) as CitriMax® resulted in significant weight loss in obese subjects compared to those taking a placebo.

Subjects took either a placebo or 500 mg of HCA before each meal for 8 weeks.

No significant weight loss was seen in subjects receiving the placebo.

Blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels were also significantly reduced in subjects taking HCA compared to those taking the placebo.

CitriMax Found to Increase Fat Loss and Weight Reduction in Overweight Persons

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, overweight subjects consuming (-)hydroxycitric acid (HCA) as CitriMax demonstrated significantly greater weight loss than subjects consuming a placebo.

The weight loss was primarily due to loss of fat.

Appetite scores were reduced in the CitriMax group, but not in the placebo group.

The group receiving CitriMax also had greater reductions in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and hip and waist circumference than the group receiving the placebo.

Test subjects received 1320 mg HCA as CitriMax per day for 8 weeks; tolerance was excellent

Super CitriMax® Found to Curb Calorie Intake in Overweight Men and Women

Super CitriMax® is a bioavailable source of (–)hydroxycitric acid (HCA) that has been reported to promote weight loss, possibly by limiting the body’s production of fat and curbing appetite.

The present placebo-controlled clinical study investigated the effects of Super CitriMax® on energy intake and factors affecting satiety, the feeling of being sufficiently full or satisfied after eating.

Prior to the study, stability of HCA was confirmed through animal tests and bioavailability was determined by analyzing plasma HCA levels in humans.

Twenty four healthy, overweight men and women were randomly assigned to drink 100 ml (3.4 oz) of tomato juice alone (placebo) or juice containing 500 mg Super CitriMax® (300 mg HCA), 3 times daily for 2 weeks.

Since plasma concentrations were observed to peak 60-90 minutes after ingesting HCA, the subjects were instructed to drink the juice 1 hour prior to lunch and dinner, and 2 hours after dinner to deter later snacking.

After a washout interval, the subjects switched to the alternate beverage for an additional 2 weeks.

All variables were measured in a controlled laboratory setting at the start and end of each study period.

Compliance was good and no adverse events were reported.

Compared to placebo, subjects drinking HCA-supplemented juice reduced 24-hour energy (calorie) intake by 15-30% (p<.05) without lowering satiety.

Significantly fewer calories were consumed between meals, suggesting that HCA sustains satiety after eating.

Body weight also tended to decrease while consuming the HCA-juice, though the researchers concluded that the treatment period was likely too short to result in significant weight loss.

These and previous findings support the use of Super CitriMax® as a safe and useful dietary adjunct in weight control programs.

Active Ingredient in CitriMax® Shown to Reduce Weight Gain, Food Intake and Body Fat

Researchers at Hoffman-LaRoche found that hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the active ingredient in CitriMax®, significantly reduced weight gain, food intake and total body fat in test animals receiving the supplement for 11-30 days.

Super CitriMax® Reduces Weight Regain After Weight Loss in Animals

Super CitriMax®, a novel calcium/potassium-bound hydroxycitric acid complex (HCA-SX) derived from Garcinia cambogia, has been reported to suppress body weight regain and food intake in laboratory animals following substantial weight loss.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) has been shown to reduce body fat by increasing fatty acid oxidation, or the burning of fat as fuel.

The soluble fiber guar gum appears to blunt food intake by slowing the digestive process and increasing satiety, the feeling of fullness.

The current study examined whether CLA and guar gum modify the long term effects of HCA-SX on weight regain.

Rats were fed calorie-restricted diets for 10 days, then divided into 7 groups and allowed to consume food freely.

Animals fed HCA-SX at 3% of the diet consumed significantly less food and regained less body weight compared to controls, as did all groups fed HCA-SX (HCA-SX with guar gum or guar gum and CLA along with HCA-SX).

However, neither CLA (1%) nor guar gum (3%) combined with HCA-SX increased the effectiveness of HCA-SX alone on blunting food intake and weight regain.

When given separately, CLA and guar gum had no effect on these parameters.

The combination of HCA-SX and CLA, as well as HCA-SX combined with CLA and guar, led to a lower fat content in the liver.

These results demonstrate that HCA-SX is effective at blunting food intake and weight regain after significant loss of body weight, while CLA and guar gum do not further enhance these effects.

The present study supports the use of Super CitriMax® as a safe, effective weight management aid for appetite suppression, weight loss and weight maintenance.
